Tips for Selecting Bridal Party Gowns


Your wedding is probably the most special and important day of your whole life so far. Planning this special day includes sorting out tons of details and making lots of choices. It starts with choosing the rings and goes on from there. You and your groom to be must select everything from the ceremony location to the wedding cake flavor. One decision you won't require your groom's help with is the bridal party gowns. These dresses should first be something that you like, since you are the bride. However, make sure you select a style that is flattering for all your bridesmaids. A nice A-line dress that's not too short or long with a modest neckline can work well for everyone. Fabric should be season appropriate. For example, in spring and summer you can go with lighter, more sheer textiles. Fall and winter is of course the time for heavier choices such as velvet. Color might also be somewhat seasonal. You don't want pastels in the winter and probably don't want dark tones in the spring. The color of the dresses should match or at least coordinate with your chosen wedding colors.

You will want to select something reasonable in price as it is customary for the wedding party members to pay for their own gowns. It is also customary to purchase small matching tokens for each woman in your bridal party to wear during the ceremony, such as a necklace or bracelet. This gift is a way to say thank you and designates bridesmaid, maid of honor and flower girl status. Brides to be normally present their bridesmaids with these small gifts at the traditional luncheon that takes place before the wedding day.
